When a local business needed some creative zest, they turned to Daredevil Creative.
Local Zest is a free, lifestyle magazine hand-delivered to 10,000 ABC1 household in the West Midlands. The aim of the magazine is to provide readers with engaging content that is informative and aspirational, focussing on the area in which they live.
Daredevil was commissioned to create a new logo, business card, company website and design the template for the magazine, as well as produce the first six issues.
The company wanted upbeat, vibrant colours to visually embody their name and ethos. Building on ‘zest’ a number of colour combinations were tested until orange and green were preferred. The logo itself encompasses a designed ‘z’ which looks like it’s had the juice squeezed out of it!
Once the logo was designed, Sean got to work creating a business card, website design and visuals for the A5 colour magazine template. The company wanted to maintain their brand vibrancy throughout the magazine whilst portraying a high quality look and feel. The magazine, which includes a mix of editorial and adverts, also required additional design support for some advertisements.
Sean says: “I loved working on such a large magazine layout which involved 60+ pages. During the initial six month contract, the template naturally evolved as I created each monthly issue to accommodate the varied content and introduce subtle design elements.”
He added: “At the time, there was a lot of work involved in placing the editorial and making it visually appealing to readers, and in ensuring each page worked within the whole design of the magazine. Overall, it’s a piece of creative work I’m particularly proud of.”
